Alan Caldwell is the Chairman and Technical Director of Lomond Radio and Lomond Country — which basically means if it has buttons, cables, flashing lights or makes a mysterious humming noise, he’s the one who knows what it does. After years of co‑presenting Friday Drivetime with Phil Briscoe, Alan has stepped back from the mic so he can work his magic behind the scenes, transforming Studio 2 into a brand‑new community training suite for budding audio and video broadcasters.

By day, Alan works full‑time as a Health & Safety Assurance Auditor, keeping workplaces safe and sensible. By night (and most weekends), he’s elbow‑deep in broadcast kit, tinkering away and making sure Lomond Radio runs smoother than a freshly‑oiled fader.

Happily married to Louise for 39 years, Alan is a proud dad — and the slightly outnumbered human in a household ruled by one crazy chaotic spaniel. Lomond Radio may not pay the bills, but it’s absolutely his passion.
