Over a thousand runners sign up for Run Loch Lomond festival

More than a thousand runners from across Scotland are in training in preparation for the annual Run Loch Lomond 10k, 5k and Fun Run.

Run Loch Lomond festival, organised by West Dunbartonshire Leisure Trust, sets off in the picturesque village of Balloch and the running route takes in the stunning surroundings of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.

This year’s event has more than 1200 registered to take part in the 10k, 5k and Fun Run already and there is still time to sign up. The event attracts huge crowds with spectators cheering on all the participants as they complete their route and cross the finish line to collect their high-quality medal, race t-shirt and goodie bag.

The deadline for registering is fast approaching and anyone wishing to take part in this year’s event should register now at https://runlochlomond.com/

Information for primary pupils wanting to take part in the Fun Run has been issued to primary schools and nurseries and pupils should enter through their school. Pre-school children, toddlers and babies in buggies should register on the day, between 8.15-8.45am.

The Fun Run starts first at 8.45am followed by the 10k at 10am and 5k at 10.20am. All races start and finish in the Moss O’Balloch.

John Anderson, General Manager of West Dunbartonshire Leisure Trust, said: “This is our biggest event in Balloch and is always a fantastic day for both the runners and the spectators. Runners come from all over Scotland to compete in the races and I am pleased to see so many athletes registered for the festival which is proving very popular this year. I look forward to seeing all the runners on the day, whether they’re competing in the big races or if they’re running with their parents in the fun run, it’s going to be a great day.”

Entries for the 10K and 5K close at 10am on Thursday 13th June. Runners who want to receive their race pack by post need to enter by 10am on Monday 3rd June. For full event details please visit https://runlochlomond.com/
